Yeah, it always feels like they push the game Braid too hard, and uses that as the best case for video games being art, for whatever reason. I suppose it is mainly for its story...
Spoiler:
even though it uses that same damn kazer zode twist, every medium uses these days

I find the puzzles in Braid to be more of an accomplishment than its story. If it's art it's art because of the puzzles not the story. It really just is an utterly pointless word. It just doesn't mean anything to me what gets called art and what doesn't. I don't know why I even bothered arguing in the first place. What matters is what I enjoy and how relevant something may be to society. An underground cable that provides electricity is more beneficial to society than some Roman colosseum so I deem that as more important, art or otherwise.

I feel like the twist at the end was very unique since it utilizes a gameplay mechanic you've been familarized with for the whole game, giving it a greater element of surprise while also making the storytelling more cohesive with the rest of the game. having metaphorical impl It relies primarily on a visual presentation and player interpretation, showing rather than telling, and has metaphorical implications about how things may make sense as we're caught up in doing them but can be seen as they are only in hindsight. I thought Braid was brilliant.

Yeah, that's part of my frustration.

It feels like a lot of those "games are art" advocators, advocate their side with the story aspect of the game, instead of the game aspect of the game.

I for one believe games are art, merely for the being games. Not because of story, story-telling, or music, or what not.

Oh Jesus, I'm sorry! I didn't mean to revive this battered and bruised horse!

No, I was attempting to give it a proper funeral.

It seems like a fitting funeral.

Us unnecessarily bickering about pointless aspects of it?
