I was mostly referring to the level from a thematic perspective, as well as the segment right before it. I posted about this recently, find my explaination there.

I think I was actually thinking of a different part of the game. I can't remember the part you described that well.

The Marsh House I'm talking about is in Savannah when Lee solo-storms the crowd of zombies and then has a long dialogue with the guy who kidnapped Clementine.

The last level of Hotline Miami 2 is perfect.

I don't know if I mentioned this before, but the Tower of Latria from Demon's Souls stands as an excellent level, and the best in the Souls series so far.

There's a level segment in FEAR Perseus Mandate that takes place in a trainyard. It is perfect.

The final level of Serious Sam Second Encounter is certainly up there. It tested my senses to their absolute limits. Hearing as well as sight(in my old age it was taxing anyway). There was over 1000 enemies to contend with, but it was such an entertaining and satisfying experience overall. And this music that accommodates it, is appropriately awesome

Most of the Thief missions are pure gold, but Down the bonehoard holds a special place in my heart as my favourite "level" of any game. A meandering underground maze, which holds a haunted giant crypt with monsters to stealth past, traps designs to outsmart and ancient and magical treasures to steal, with only Garretts humorously snide monologuing to keep you company.

It's amazing.
