Even if it ends up having a bunch of mediocre episodes it can still be a great show.

Twin Peaks for example.

I agree. I just don't see how Saul can carry a "great" show for 3 seasons, yet. FBI Special Agent Dale Cooper was able to keep the show together, I loved him, I don't love Saul, though. He annoyed me in Breaking Bad by the end when the show slowly started to develop into this whacky druglord story with an army of prison-nazis. Bob Odenkrik is a solid actor, he did a great job in BB with the material, I liked him in Fargo, too, but I don't want him to lead with that character in a show for 3 seasons, imo. I might stand corrected eventually, but I have my reasons for being cautious.
I'm just not feeling it. i'd probably watch it if i didn't have a million other shows that interest me more. For the time being, it's not on the list.

Saul in BB and Saul in this are completely different. Night and day difference.

I was a skeptic too.

You'll agree eventually I think, but we'll see.

This. Youre judging saul the whacky breaking bad side character, not saul the dramatic protagonist that he has become and that you have yet to meet.

That being said, he was my favourite BB character and I was always hyped. Im even gonna go ahead and say that better call saul has the potential to be better than breaking bad, season one already is when compared to BBs

The only line of defense for that arc imo was the one scene with the shivs and the classical music

I second jozoz & lyra. Hell, nobody even says the words "Saul Goodman" in the first season iirc.

I third this. I didn't like Saul in BB that much either, and didn't even expect to like Better Call Saul all that much. But they did a great job with him. He's a very different person, yet it's still believable that he would become the type of person he later does. Even if it does turn bad, I don't see a problem with watching the first season anyway. I'll wait until each season is out, before watching them.

I'm on e3, and I'm starting to see some interesting parallels between Jimmy and Walt's arcs. I'm also surprised Mike still figures this heavily into the story. Maybe he is to Saul what Saul was to Walter.

oh hush

And at this point I'm convinced BCS is a lot better than Breaking Bad ever was. Definitely one of the best things on television right now.
