You can join quickly and easily through this link:

http://mibbit.com/?server=irc.antisocia ... nnel=%23ts

Pick a username and connect.

For a more permanent arrangement you can use the following instructions:

Here is a pretty good FAQ:
http://www.mirc.com/ircintro.html

Once you've downloaded it, open it up (duh.)

From the options menu, (listed under "tools" if it doesn't just pop up automatically) you put in your nickname. Then you click the OK button. That box will go away and then you type the following:

/server irc.antisocialfatman.com

(copy and paste that if you want.)

That will connect you to our server.

Once you connect to the server, you probably won't see a list of rooms to choose from. If a box pops up and telling you to "enter the channel name and click 'join,'" you just type ts

If there's no pop-up, you'll have to type in the name of room you want to enter. So you type:

/join #ts

Then you'll be in! You'll see a sidebar with a list of names, that is everyone in the room. Not everyone will be talking, sometimes it's quiet because people are afk or whatever, but you can let it idle and just see what happens.

I hope this helps!
It asks for registration and 20 dollars, but you don't need to do that. It will tell you at the end of the trial you need to pay, but you can just hit "cancel" and that goes away, too. We have paid because we have gotten so much out of it, but you don't actually HAVE to.

I have known fatman for perhaps 13 years. During all of that time he was in IRC chat.

You can download the program here:
http://www.mirc.com/

/server 198.199.113.91
/join #ts
This will get you to the room.

He had wanted to run a room for the website when it was eventually launched. We welcome anyone to come and join us. Some of us have been here almost continuously for over a decade, but there is always room for more people.

If you come, please consider staying.

Yes, please join. This was the next step in Stephen's master plan (ha) and it would be great to see it realized. If you need help figuring out how to set up irc or join the room, just let us know and we will help. We hope to see many of you there.

Gupperson/simplebluebeard is one of the defining features of the chat.

If people are trying to get this to work and have problems doing that then you can post here and I will help you.

Alternately, you could watch this informative video:

It's where hax0rs talk when they don't want to be overheard!

Is it a chat in text form or do you actually talk to each other? The problem is: I don't have a microphone *yet*, but I'm definitely going to participate in this IRC business as soon as I can.

It's text, just a basic chat room. We don't do any of that high-tech VOICE stuff. (it's apparently a very old program that people don't really use much any more? I've used it for so long that I didn't think about the fact that things have moved on!)

Well, techincally I think you can make short sound recordings and then play them in the room, but that's silly and nobody does it.

Anyway, do come and stay, even if you just lurk there. One person in the room lurked for so long when he first arrived that everyone thought he was a bot. (of course, now we can't shut him up...)

Okay, I downloaded this thing and I don't get it, to be honest. I start the program, then it wants some kind of registration which costs 20$. I click "cancel" which kinda works (the registration thingy is now over, that's good I suppose) and I'm asked to type a Nickname, Alternate name, etc. After doing this, I'm completely lost. Where should I type this /server 24.22.81.129 and /join #ts business? I demand to be treated as a complete idiot when it comes to chat program thingies (which I am, actually) !
