George Orwell's review of Charlie Chaplin's "The Great Dictator."

http://bit.ly/VamGyO

Quote:
What is Chaplin’s peculiar gift? It is his power to stand for a sort of concentrated essence of the common man, for the ineradicable belief in decency that exists in the hearts of ordinary people, at any rate in the West [...] The common man is wiser than the intellectuals, just as animals are wiser than men. Any intellectual can make you out a splendid “case” for smashing the German Trade Unions and torturing the Jews. But the common man, who has no intellect, only instinct and tradition, knows that "it isn’t right."

Though I don’t think he did that many film reviews, he was in any case, one of the few acclaimed writers of that era to take pop culture subjects very seriously. I recommended the book “All Art is Propaganda” for more of his great collection of essays, reviews, and social critiques.

I haven't watched any of this guy's prior videos, but this is the best analysis of these games I've seen. He goes into just the right amount of depth on everything and provides no fluff whatsoever

Looks like he reviews playstation games only. I never had a playstation and never played any of those games unfortunately, but the videos seem great.

He just reviews Naughty Dog games so far. I've just started on his Crash bandicoot review now, and will probably work my way up. He seems to really know his stuff, when it comes to game mechanics, and probably has some experience working in the industry.

I just got done watching his Jak 2 review now. I was surprised that he was so negative towards it, but it's still an excellent analysis. I was mistaken too. He doesn't just review Naughty Dog games. He reviewed some Ratchet and Clank games as well, which I didn't notice previously, for some reason.

He really hammers it home about the lore and consistency with the other games being fucked with. He also articulates the underlying problems of removing the skill points that I couldn't quite put my finger on when I played this.

3 hours! I'm way too apathetic about the game to sit through that.

I watched most of it. I agree on everything but there's some things he didn't mention.

Novacanoo's last Naughty Dog video, and an excellent one to boot. I love the detail he goes into in describing the flaws in cover shooting, but how they don't need to be flaws, and how stuff like the regen health, hitscan enemies and even the difficulties effect the system. It's so much easier just to write a game off, simply for being a cover shooter with regen health and leave it at that, but he takes it several steps further. You'd need to watch his videos on the whole Uncharted series to fully appreciate that, though. But almost all his videos are great
