So I was in Southampton today and to my surprise the Waterstones (British book store chain) there has a pretty bulky selection of graphic novels and manga spanning six book cases, and since that thread bran started was a bit limiting and since I'm so unfamiliar with graphic novels as a medium (only read Scott Pilgrim), does anyone have any recommendations of various graphic novels/ manga?

Oh and just wondering, has anyone here read Maus?

Fullmetal Alchemist, Claymore, Eyeshield 21, and Berserk are my top recommendations for ones that made it overseas. Also, the English language censor wizards kinda got to FMA, and while I haven't read the legit English translation of Claymore and Berserk, I'm fairly certain they got castrated in the translation process.

Also, I have read Maus and I kinda like it. 100 Bullets is also pretty good (from what I've read).

If you can find it, Marvel released a 5-part miniseries called Fallen Son: The Death of Captain America. 's pretty good.

Agreeing with generic, anything by Alan Moore is generally worth a read.

I think The Walking Dead is probably worth checking out at some point, though I am mildly of put by the fact that it's still going.

Sin city is nice. Maus is a MUST imo. For manga I have to recommend Akira, its the best ,anga that ive read, followed by battle royale. Both had shit movie adaptations so theyre definitely worth checking out to do the ideas justice.

It's pretty good but got tedious after a while and I sort of drifted away from it while waiting for the next edition to come out. (That was about a year ago?) Also very gory and weird, but you guys probably won't mind that. I keep meaning to get back to it.

Has anyone read V for Vendetta? I really like the dystopian stuff. Can anyone recommend any more like that?
(no, the rules from before don't apply, because I'm not an autistic child.)

I'm talking about NON manga stuff, though. At the first sign of those weird eyes, I'm out.

Ahah! If you like Alan Moore and dystopia, you have to read Watchmen! Also, if you aren't put off by superheroes, The Dark Knight Returns has a wonderful (or, uh, not so wonderful) dystopia.
