What do any of you think of this guy? I think he's quite funny and enjoyable to listen to. A lot of people don't like him though. This is probably my favourite video of his http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W-oeOqgR ... re=related

He seems to like to take the least popular side in a given argument to generate artificial popularity.

Sometimes it seems that way, but not always. His TEH BIAS rant was hardly the least popular side.

Well yes, in that case I agree with him, but there are a lot of situations like in his 'Big dumb shooters are better than 'art games'' where he does that, and he also likes to say that people who say bias and linearity have no idea what they are talking about, where in some cases that is true, but the way he says that everyone who says bias and linearity has no idea what they are talking about really gets on my nerves.

I reckon he was just generalising. 95% of people on the internet probably don't know what the word bias even means. I liked his linearity rant a lot. Too many people bitch about linearity too often. Linearity can often be a good thing and benefit the experience, like it does with Half Life 2. If people want open world games, there are plenty of those around that people can play instead.

Fair enough, but that generalizing is what makes me angry about him. Some games are too linear when they could be a bit more open, and saying that nobody but him understands linearity is nonsensical.

yeah, he often makes good points, but then degenerates into trolling with the least bit of sense, especially since he moved to the escapist.

I don't always agree with him, but I do think that he is quite funny. His reaction to that second comment sent to him in his TEH BIAS video was hilarious.

Jim is alright when he talks about the industry. Pretty much states the obvious all the time, but I like the effort nonetheless.

Whenever he talks about games or while reading his reviews, my brain cells die.

Has anyone seen this video http://www.escapistmagazine.com/videos/ ... lure-State . What are your thoughts on cutscenes being used in games in general? There is a lengthy thread on the escapist forum about them.
