I'm going to read the Critique of Pure Reason this summer, followed by Zarathustra. If I want to gain a decent general coverage of major modern-postmodern philosophy as covered by original authors, what else should I read? Should I bother with the sequels to Critique of Pure Reason?

Also, is the classical philosophy worth reading if I'm not into the history of philosophy?

Are you only interested in critical philosophy? Or are you more interested in the time period itself?

That part of the history of philosophy features many significant things.

Tons of moral philosophy - Kant's deontology and Mill + Bentham's utilitarianism

The birth of Phenomenology with Husserl.

The concept of causality is also discussed heavily here.

I don't know much about critical philosophy but I have some experience with these other things.

I wouldn't advice you to read Hegel. That's legitimately horribly written.

I'm currently reading Kant's Groundwork for the Metaphysic of Morals for my university semester project on applied ethics.

I'm interested in the time period's critical and moral philosophy, and less so in metaphysics to the degree that they can be separated. I'm also interested in epistemology

Moral philosophy from that time period is really interesting.

I recommend On Liberty by Mill and Groundwork of the Metaphysics of Morals by Kant.

I am halfway through Descartes' Selections from Principles of Philosophy, as provided by gutenberg. Something about his self-assuredness bothers me immensely.
