Hello

Since I've started listening to BBC 4's LOTR radio play, I was wondering if you could recommend something similarly good. I've heard the Solaris radioplay is excellent, I even think fatman gifted it to hla once! I am also very much interested in radio documentaries and generally decent podcasts. I am on the BBC iTunes page at this very moment, but I don't really know what's worth listening to, really.

Are radio plays still a thing in the UK? I adore the LOTR one. I'm particularly interested in those.

Feel free to inform people about anything auditive that's not music in this thread (podcasts, audiobooks, documentaries, radioplays, etc.).

Thanks

What's it about?

Okay, so #ts has been helpful:
- I'm sorry I haven't a clue
- Cabin Pressure
- Hitchhiker's Guide to the galaxy (BBC)
- drama of the week BBC 4 extra
- The unbelievable truth
- Solaris (BBC)

Its three guys who talk about all sorts of topics, its funny but its also very informative. Each episode covers a specific topic but they get derailed a lot of the time in a fun way and they always come back to the topic. The Nikola Tesla episode is a really cool one, they also do some where they laugh at onspiracies. Just check the episode listat their website and pick a topic that seems interesting. They last about two hours each episode.

I listen to The Bugle and Freakonomics podcasts. Freakonomics isn't as good as it used to be, though.

Oh and the LSE makes podcasts of events with speakers and panel presentations. Some of those are really great.

I have it in my podcast app, but I haven't listened to any of the podcasts, yet, because the tankriot ones tend to last quite long. I also found that BBC4 music podcast which is absolutely fantastic.

Also great: Opie and Anthony podcast. I will create a Donald Rumsfeld thread for one particular podcast I enjoyed a lot.

Lyra, I listened to the Tesla podcast. They almost lost me after they said "Nikolai" in the first sentence! But it was intentional and they did thorough research on him. It was a very nice podcast. I then listened to the 5 great novels podcast and it wasn't as good, but still nice. Got some nice recommendations.
I downloaded a bunch of Tank Riot podcasts in the podcast app (Marx Brothers, Orson Welles, Frank Lloyd Wright, Howard Hughes and Einstein) and will listen to them soon. Thanks!
