This is a thread for believable film/show based rumours or confirmed projects you're looking forward to.

I am very much looking forward to McQueen's HBO project.
http://blogs.indiewire.com/shadowandact ... bo-project

The project is still untitled and the exact details of the pilot are vague except that it will be, according to McQueen’s words, "an exploration of a young African American man’s experience entering New York high society, with a past that may not be what it seems."

I'm also looking forward to Guillermo Del Toro's upcoming vampire show called "The Strain".

I'm pumped for the next True Detective season and eager to read about the cast. S1 was excellent, allthough the ending a bit standard thriller-ish.

Oh yeah and I'm still looking forward to HBO's take on "Monster".

I am also quite looking forward to HBO's take on Urasawa's "Monster". I remember quite enjoying the man's stuff in my mid-teens and it would be wonderful to see his work realized by a more ambitious studio and director.

I am also keeping an eye out for del Toro's "Crimson Peak", Paul Thomas Andersen's "Inherent Vice", "Better Call Saul" and the next seasons of both "True Detective" and "Hannibal".

Scott Steindorff, the producer of "Chef", is also working on a film adaptation of Bulgakov's "The Master and Margarita". I am not exactly frothing at the mouth to see it, seeing as he ain't exactly a visionary and "Master" is an incredibly ambitious novel, but I am very curious. Same for the film adaptation of "Blood Meridian"; whoever picks that one up is going to have quite a lot on his/her plate.

I am TERRIFIED of the new "American Pastoral" film that's in pre-production right now. Yes, give one of the greatest and most acclaimed American novels of the last 50-100 years to the guy who directed "Salt". Fucking GENIUS.

He did direct Equilibrium as well, which I think is a very underrated action/sci fi. That book is probably nothing like it though, so it's still a very odd choice.

Yeah, it's pretty out of the man's area of expertise :(

Okay, I will watch the following movies that are coming out this year:
Gone Girl
Of Mice and Men (it's a Broadway play being shown in cinemas around here)
Interstellar
The Zero Theorem
Magic in the moonlight

Does anyone have anything else to add?

You're looking forward to a Nolan film? I would've sworn I was the only one on this forum who likes the guy.

I'll add Neill Blompkamp's film Chappie to the list, although that's coming out next year. Even though there's no information out about it, he did such a delightful job with District 9 and Elysium that I can't help but be excited. I like the lineup of stars, though: Sharlto Copely (of course), Hugh Jackman, Dev Patel, and Sigourney Weaver.

He hasn't done a single bad movie. I wasn't impressed by Inception, but I loved the concept and his visual style is always very distinct in his films. He has a very good sense for tone and setting. Great director. How can't I get excited about a SciFi Nolan film? It's a must-see in the movie theatre imo.

I wonder if McConaughey is going to do a role without a southern accent in the future.

Chappie's release is in 2015 around here, so I didn't add it. I didn't know about it, too, tbh. Sounds interesting, although Hugh Jackman is not really an actor that makes me want to see his films. He's not bad, but he's not that kind of actor, imho.

I dunno, I would've preferred Hugh Jackman to Matt Damon in Elysium (although honestly I would've preferred any non-white actor. The whole "Only White Man on Earth" the film had going on really threw me out of it). I see what you mean, though. Fortunately the rest of the cast is there.
