Seriously though I think he just means how Scandinavians have taken their rightful place on the throne of this forum.

Rightful place?

Eh... I'm from Eastern Europe actually. The place where people speak using their incomprehensible russian words - just like me!

Anyone watching the new season?

I am not really sure what to think of it. There is definitely more of an emphasis on the personal relationships and a shift away from the crime-solving-wow-he's-smart.
Spoiler:
Except most of the first two episodes just seemed like fanservice imo, lol. I felt a little dirty watching it. But I do like the relationships developing so that the show doesn't just become a particularly well written, but still formulaic and stagnant show like House or something.
I am not really sure how good of a shift this is. Only one episode left to the season, so I hope it's back to the original ratio of funny:cool.

I've just seen the first new episode. It's definitely the worst episode so far and *some* sappy dialogue was to be expected, considering how S2 ended, but I agree with you, Grace.

Sherlock is no longer the antisocial genius he was in S1 and 2. He now kisses people and is jealous. I, too, want the old Sherlock back. They're overdoing the Sherlock/Watson relationship so that in the future, Sherlock's antisocial remarks only serve as jokes and won't be believable at all anymore, given we all know how much he actually likes the people around him, now. It's possible they ruined it for the rest of the series. It'll be very difficult to make Sherlock go back to his S1 personality, because they revealed so much about his actual personality already.

I wouldn't have expected the writers to keep pushing this emphasis on personal relationships, I would've thought they're doing this because of the circumstances (again: the end of S2), so I am quite alarmed by you saying it's similar in S3E2, too.

It's not *bad* now, though. It simply wasn't as good as the other episodes. We'll see. Maybe S3 will be known as the sappy, cheesy season and S4 will be able to get back on track.

I saw the Irene Adler episode recently and that made me sad.

I haven't been watching it, partially because I forgot when it was on tv and partially because I'd prefer to get it on blu-ray when it's over and continue to watch it with my dad. From what I can gather from friends it's the weakest season yet, with neither of the opening two episodes being really anything to write home about, regardless, I hope I can at least enjoy it somewhat.

Koopsas, it's not /un/enjoyable to watch. It's definitely enjoyable in a very different way...the homoeroticism has been amped up...so that could be a plus... ^^

The next episode doesn't seem as relationshippy though, based on the summary. Moffat is the writer too, so hopefully it'll be better? (Except he was one of the three writers for the last episode too. :c )

Admittedly I did quite like the silly mild romance between John and Sherlock, but for me it only worked as a distraction to inject some less morbid humour into what played out. When you say it's amped up does that mean it's improved or that it's more prevalent than before? Or both, at the same time!

It's more prevalent. I think it's worse, because a little goes a long way. It used to be a little nod to the original John Lock shippers, but in these past few episodes it's become devoted to their relationship, imo.

Why would anyone want to put Enlightenment philosophers on a boat? Who does that?

I have a feeling that this is a bad programme.

Is it?
