It depends on what you want in a television show. You won't like it because there's too much animu.

I have a feeling that this is a bad programme.

Is it?

It isn't at all, especially if you like Holmes style crime stories, since Sherlock's old cases are being modernized. The acting is excellent. Also, they manage to make one case per episode but still have an overall story arch, which is nice. Season 2 in particular was quite good at that.
There are some silly things, but overall, I really enjoyed it, especially S2.
There are only 3 episodes per season, so there aren't a lot of chances to ruin it, really.

The 9.3 rating on imdb is too high. It's no The Wire, but it's still good.

The imdb rating system is completely retarded, especially for TV shows. Loads of shows get equally high ratings, regardless of their quality.

I've never liked the original Sherlock Holmes stories. I tried reading The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes and the whole premise is just...it's supposed to be Sherlock's observations and intelligence and situational awareness but it's really just a superpower. His evidence can lead him to a number of things, he just so happens to always be right. It's not clever writing, it's just a series of Deus ex machinas in the form of a character trait.

I liked this third episode, but not the final minute so much. Why pile on even /more/ cliffhanger?

Not really sure what to think of this season. I think I am disappointed with this season as a whole. Too much fan service, imo.

How does imdb rating system work?

That's nice I suppose. I read some pretty negative reviews. John likes it though.

It basically just involves a bunch of retards giving things votes. Most people tend to give something either a 1 or a 10. If they don't like something it gets a 1 but if they do like it it gets a 10. Because most people who vote can only think in binary. People have a tendency to vote there before they even see a particular film too. Directors with a bad reputation will cause people to give their films very low scores before they even watch their films. Actors that may have done some bad things in real life will cause people to down vote any film they're in and similar such nonsense. The whole thing is a joke. The last time I checked, The Dark Knight was number 1 on the top 250 list too.

Well, maybe those reviews focused on silly things like Holmes' exaggarated abilities, since he's far from just a very clever guy with great observational skills in the show, which is the one thing I dislike the most about the show. The first episode starts off a bit weird, too. I am not sure if those reviews were one episode reviews or reviews of the entire show. It'd surprise me if it was the latter.

also, yes, imdb ratings are often very silly. rotten tomatoes is where it's at. You can read every single review there and see for yourself who's an idiot and who isn't.

Okay, I'm going to call it, I haven't seen the S3 finale, yet, BUT:

Spoiler:
There's something wrong with the wife. The bride's maid said "you're going to be very useful to us" at the wedding and i think that means she's EVIL
