avoiding reading the rest of this thread in detail so as not to see spoilers, but I watched ep 1 and wasn't blown away.

It gets better, though, right?? I really want to like this.

It's entertaining. If you're not interested by the third episode I'd say it isn't much.

It's best for rich White people though.

I didn't say there was anything wrong with that. There is most certainly a target demographic. Stranger Things is designed to resonate with well off White America as much as To Pimp a Butterfly is unapologetically by and for Black America. I nonetheless enjoy both.

"Well, I was just starting to think you were okay. I was thinking, Nancy Wheeler, she's not just another suburban girl who thinks she's rebelling by doing exactly what every other suburban girl does, until that phase passes and they marry some boring one-time jock, who now works sales, and they live out a perfectly boring little life at the end of a cul-de-sac. Exactly like their parents, who they thought were so depressing, but now, hey, they get it."

Both the statement and the teenage angst of rejecting and indicting it are thematically resonant with suburban White America. That's not a bad thing. It appears I've triggered all of you though, and I guess I should pretend that none of that is true.
