If I could find an actual good TV to buy I'd get it.

don't ignore my important questions imo!

anyway are they still refusing to sell TV screens? the fact that they would continue to ignore that is beyond me, tbh. they seem to be ahead of everyone else in terms of screens.

There's no display. =/

The usual argument is that you can't sustain the margins because the TV business is essentially 0% margin. I'm sure it can be done, though; the PC business is 0% margin too and that never stopped them. Perhaps they are waiting for OLED or for the Apple TV box to really take off.

we had a long chat about this a year ago, iirc. we agreed that it would definitely be a challenge to sell tv screens on a yearly basis. basically impossible, imo. some people stay with their screen until it fails completely. apple would have to change its strategy for that sort of thing, but I'm sure it can be done. people used to keep their mobile phones for years and now they get a yearly iPhone. i think it's possible to find a market that would be willing to buy a new tv screen every 5-7 years if the improvements are significant enough. maybe that's the problem. it's hard to improve on tv screens in a flashy way. the first model would probably be amazing, but then they would have difficulty to get people to buy new ones. its practicability is very limited, compared to the iPhone. it's much easier to be creative and inventive when you're trying to improve on the iPhone as opposed to a TV display.

i would like to be able to make screenshots with my future tv so i can discuss certain angles/shots/whatever after watching it and store those screenshots for later discussions/comparisons. i'd like some sort of laser pointer that allows me to emphasize/paint stuff on the screen, imo. that's very specific and film nerdy, though. definitely not something for a big market.

I'd keep it until it stopped working, yep. Perhaps it could be sustained with higher margins than usual to offset the less frequent buying. I do hope they get on with it, though.

The Apple TV box is at least going in the right direction.

The hardest thing is to get the companies to agree to the content deals.

* Apps
* Siri
* Aggregation of content. You say: 'Play Game of Thrones' and it gets it from Netflix/iTunes/HBO Now etc.
* Games (It has the CPU from the 2014 iPhone.)
* New remote with Bluetooth not IR (no need for line of sight to use it):
