I just watched episode 1, it's the new HBO thing. I am definitely hooked, it's very, very unique and interesting. This could be ruined easily with the wrong decisions imho (e.g. if it decides to unravel the mystique about it too quickly and then just tries to be exciting for the rest of the series), but it could also end up being really, really good. Another possiblity is that it pulls a LOST on us and stops being about the mystique and tries to be mostly about the characters. I am not sure it can pull that off, though. So far (as in: in episode 1), the main characters are not really the more interesting characters, the plot and the weird stuff/characters make it interesting. I'd like it to be mostly plot driven, imho. The scenes I found interesting were the weird ones, that's for sure. But if it's plot-driven, there's the danger of the show losing its spice after you know too much about it. Really, this show can go anywhere from here, imho.
So all in all I am intrigued and I am hooked, but after LOST, I am sceptical. We'll see.

This show would be much better with a great director, also. The directing was very TV-ish, which is suprising, considering it's HBO. That's a shame. I hope they change up the directing team. Not that this is a possibility, but Lynch would make this thing amazing.

Anyone else interested or watching it?

I think the director/showrunner/whoever said that they're not gonna explain what happened and it's more about what people do in circumstances like that.
Kinda like in the Walking Dead it's all about people (making incredibly stupid decisions) in an extreme situation, not about the situation itself.

I'm not getting my hopes up for this show, but it looks interesting enough so I'll watch it eventually.

I read his post and I agree with him. Ill pico up this show if the consensus is that it's good after a whole season is out. I never got caught in the LOST train so I'm a bit wary of that comparison. I'll give it a go though.
