My copies of the Saga books arrived today, so I blew through volumes 3-5. Bendis is not afraid to kick you in the gut, that's for sure.

For an hilarious space opera with the world's cutest seal-person, Saga is a surprisingly unhappy story. I still love it, and it handles a simple and cheesy theme (love) in a nuanced and "grown-up" manner, but especially in the later books **** gets heavy. The core cast of characters are still incredibly compelling, however, with Prince Robot IV at the top imo but despite my reservations I'll still heartily recommend it to everyone on this forum*. The art is amazing, as well:

*- with the possible exception of giglamesh, as he sometimes gets fussy about badass female characters (of which Saga has multitudes).

I hate those self help books. The most effective among them teach you how to be an annoying person in a manner that gets you what you want, and many others are bunk, pure and simple.

I've never read one before so I'm just trying it out.

But imo being able to actually get what you want is a good life skill to have. I could certainly use some help in that department. It sucks to say it but I probably care too much if other people feel I mistreated them.

I found a pretty good book for free on my kandle called The Red Fish Project by Andrew Gillmore. It's about his experiences living abroad with stories of other expatriates mixed in. It's a pretty good read imo.

I finished Boomerang, by Michael Lewis. It's a short series of quasi-travelogues that covers Iceland, Greece, Ireland, and Germany in the years following the housing/financial crash. Lewis is an excellent writer and manages to take something otherwise incredibly dull and make it worth reading.

I learned that I should probably move to Germany, California is truly the worst, and lol greece.
