I meant what do you think of the possibility that UEFI can lock other operating systems besides Windows?

It's mostly only a problem with the RT devices. They're the only ones that prohibit non-Windows OS. For normal PCs, it has to be signed and that's all. Some of the Lunix distributions have started that already.

It doesn't really bother me. I think a lot of stuff could do with being more locked down for the sake of security. Windows is notoriously bad for this.

I'm getting a Mac partly for this reason.

I liked W10 at first, but then W10 almost ruined my PC. I had terrible issues with weird freezes and stuff. Everything works just fine with W7, though.

I thought it wasn't meant to be able to force the upgrade.

How does it happen?

Nobody knows, really, imho? I knew they force the necessary downloads, but I never thought they would actually force the actual upgrade/installment. I think they changed some priorities of the W10-related updates from "optional" to "recommended" (which is 2nd tier after "critical"), which might've started this whole episode. There's that pop up every time you start wandows that lets you choose to either update now or later in the evening. I always closed that window and so did my dad because we didn't like the options given!! One day, my dad was watching TV and didn't turn off his laptop (because lazy) and suddenly he watches Wandows restarting by itself, starting to install W10.

Also: "“We have updated the upgrade experience for some of our customers, who had previously reserved their upgrade, to schedule a time for their upgrade to take place.”

I'm pretty sure my dad did "reserve" the upgrade a year (!) ago, just in case (Never look a gift horse in the mouth etc.), but decided to not go through with it.

I installed a thing called the GWX Control Panel in order to prevent this from happening.

I like the Bill.

However, **** Microsoft. =/ I would really like Linux to be a good alternative, but I fear all the compatibility issues. Oh, well..
